Epic Thai Film King Naresuan to Open the 9th Cinemanila International Film Festival

The new epic film of Thailandís Prince M.C. Chatrichalerm Yukol, King Naresuan, will officially open the 9th Cinemanila International Film Festival (CIFF). The film depicts how King Naresuan of Ayudhaya, who reigned from 1590 to 1605, struggled against and ultimately won independence from Burmese aggressors.


9th Cinemanila International Film Festival to Honor Robert Malengreau During Opening Night Ceremonies

The 9th Cinemanila International Film Festival will officially open with a tribute to Robert Malengreau, Director of the Belgian Independent Film Festival. Malengreau will receive Cinemanilaís Lifetime Achievement Award for his significant contribution to the development of independent cinema in Belgium and his promotion of Asian films in Europe.

Since 2005, the Cinemanila International Film Festival (CIFF) has showcased and honored the best Filipino digital films through the Digital Lokal competition. The CIFF is honored to have as the head of its jury for the 3rd Digital Lokal, Mr. Olivier Pere. Mr. Pere is the artistic director of the Directors Fortnight of the Cannes Film Festival.

Cinemanila, Festival of Festivals, Host to the Stars

Cinematographer and frequent Wong Kar Wai collaborator Christopher Doyle (Hero, In the Mood for Love), attended the first Cinemanila in 1999 and gave a Master Class in Cinematography.
